Black People Are Outraged By It, But We Do It To Ourselves

I can't help but feel so bitter about some of the things we as black people are so quick to become outraged by, and yet our own people do it and nothing ever happens.

We're so quick to want equality and equal opportunity from the other races, but we're so quick to use race as a factor in the happenings of the world. We're all people, people steal, people cheat, people kill and that's just the world. However, if a white person insults, hurts, kills a black person it's instant discrimination, but when we do it to each other what is it? Natural?

We're so quick to want justice when white people kill black people, but we rejoice when O.J. Simpson gets away with murdering two white people. We praise the black lawyer getting the black man off with murder. Yet when the white policemen killed the 23 year old black kid we want justice. I'm not saying it's right, I'm outraged too... but I get outraged even more when I see Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson rushing to the aid of black people being wronged by white people and yet won't step their Stacy Adams into the worst neighborhoods to confront our misguided youth who kill other black youth damn near everyday. I mean... you don't have to be on television to save our race. You don't need to be in the limelight to get people to hear your voice. I don't want to see Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton covering white on black crime, when black on black crime is still a higher killer of blacks in this country.

When I was in the 3rd grade, my cousin was slain by another black kid when he was 15 years old, and the people that killed him are more than likely still alive and out there partying. The police never even arrested the kid that pulled the trigger. That outrages me! That outrages me more than I can bear! Where was Al Sharpton then? My family didn't get a news story. Nothing in the newspaper about my cousin except his obituary. I don't give a fuck about Don Imus calling black women nappy headed hoes, especially when Snoop Dogg has been calling black women hoes since 1994. I'm not dissing Snoop, I love his music, but I'm just saying... you can't get mad at the white man when we're doing it too. We wanted equal opportunity right? Well we can equally get insulted, screwed over, and dissed. When Chris Rock screams "Cracker ass Cracker!" over and over again, we laugh and laugh. White people can't say nigga ass nigga on stage though... and get laughs. We're so quick to say that the man is holding us down. The man has TRIED to hold me down. I refuse to stay down. Some people are so quick to give up. "Oh i've been to 10 job interviews and nobody wants to hire me because I have a criminal record" Well you know what i say to that? Go to ten more job interviews if you really want to change yourself, you're going to have to work for it. I understand that some people get caught in the system at a young age and then try to turn themselves around, but there are people who will give you a chance if you fight for that chance and don't just chalk it up to the "man" trying to keep you down.

I'm definitely not trying to downplay anything, like I said... my heart drops anytime a man, woman, child is slain black, white, green, brick red, orange. When people die...it's a sad state of affairs.

Before we blame the "man" for our problems, let's look at the problems we have as a people. We're not so perfect that all our problems can be attributed to someone else. Some of our problems come from our own people. We need to fix ourselves BEFORE we try to fix others.

You're a little younger than I am so you may not know that Al & Jessie actually do (or at least used to)go into the neighborhoods to speak to our youth- not door to door but in forums & churches. The media is not there for that though.

As far as the OJ thing- I truly believe that he did not PERSONALLY kill Nicole & Cato. It's not a fair comparison bet. him & the polieceman (if it is the story I think u r referring to) b/c that incident was caught on tape.

As far as Snoop, he's not calling all women b!###3$ & h03$... just the b!###3$ & h03$ :). Imus called out a whole team of ladies who were young role models and did not deserve that comment.

You're right on the "cracker" issue though. No one should speak like that about another race.

Yeah, you're right on the jesse and al comment. I just meant since they reached "celebrity status" they seem to pick and choose their appearances even when it's not such an urgent cause like the war on hip hop. Are you serious? We have bigger issues than hip hop and for guys who love to run their mouth, they're quick to want people to censor themselves.
I guess I'm was a little unfair in my comparisons, but they make sense to a certain extent.

The point I was making with the OJ thing is how people advocated for someone black who is involved in a scandal, but not for someone white Dave chapelle did a skit about it when he was the juror and all the black people were innocent and when it got to Robert Blake he was like "beretta did that shit"

Thanks for the feedback though, i'll také what you said into consideration.
