People love celebrities. We breathe in what they do and say like it gives us life! Why the hell Paris Hilton is on CNN though, I'll never fully understand. It seems like we have to revert back to childhood doesn't it? Is CNN not a reputable enough news source that it doesn't have to put media spectacles like Paris Hilton in it's program? With all that's going on in the world of politics, foreign policy, society, have CNN nothing better to post than Paris Hilton's exit from jail? Did a story get pulled at the last minute for being to "brave" to be put on the news? So in the emergency filler time they cut to Paris Hilton?
If I want celebrity news, I'll turn to E! When I watch CNN I want to see more people of merit on the news. Now I'm not saying that all celebrities on the top news are misplaced. Some deserve their spotlight. I loved when Kathy Griffin hosted Larry King Live and had her special about the papparazzi because that's something that's important not only to celebrities, but to the people that look up to celebrities. Seeing your favorite celebrity in a compromising photo is like kryptonite to a fan. I loved the tribute they did to Bernie Mac when he died, I thought that was very well deserved. I; however, do not want to see Britney Spears' stories every fifteen minutes on my local news channel when there are so many more important issues going on in the world.
I love a good gossip story like any other person, but can we get back to the issues at hand please?
