I like to think not, but the evidence is piling up in favor of a yes answer. Is it a coincidence that one of the longest standing t.v. sitcoms of all time only had a handful of african-americans on the show? I'm talking about Friends. Friends lasted forever didn't it? We can barely get an black sitcom to last an hour.
"But Roderic, that's not racist, do you know how many sitcoms aimed at White audiences got cancelled?"
No I don't, but I know how many that didn't by looking at my t.v. guide. When's the last Pre-Tyler Perry that a black sitcom reigned supreme? The Cosby Show? Family Matters? Good Times? The Fresh Prince? Martin? How come we aren't getting any new sitcoms at an alarming rate? I mean I guess because the population is majority caucasian, then it'd make sense for television to be majority white as well.
I know, I know it sounds ignorant because there are black sitcoms, mixed sitcoms, and it's just insane to think that Hollywood Execs are against engaging black sitcoms on television. I hope I'm just being paranoid.
What do you guys think?

Prejudice is everywhere. But in answering your question, I don't know. I just like the shows I like. We watch all kinds of stuff without thinking about "color". Unless of course the "tint" is off then GF would probably get upset -lol.
God sure knows how to place your blog in my fate because I watch a hellish multitude and range of television series and know exactly what you mean about Friends. I mean, with the exception of Charlie, there wasn't a single African-American role in the ten years they aired.
I think you are paranoid, though. The current casts of sitcoms are a lot more diverse and many hit T.V. shows feature ensemble casts that aim for diversity and adversity. The current Hollywood isn't racist, but ten to twenty years ago, your post might have touched on an argument.

Perhaps I am paranoid, I guess Hollywood is getting over it's racial slump. I guess I was commenting on previous Hollywood with the mention of Friends and The Cosby Show. A lot of barriers have been broken since then, Hollywood is growing up.

I think Hollywood is becoming more mixed, compared to the 80s, where there wasn't that many black actors in films.
